Freelance Tools

Free calculators and an invoice generator for freelancers and small businesses. No signup, and nothing leaves your browser.

Working out what to charge is harder than it looks. Your hourly rate is not your salary divided by 2,080 hours, because you are not billable every hour, you carry costs an employee does not, and you pay your own tax. These tools set a rate by the hour or by the day, starting from the income you want and working backwards to the rate that gets you there, and they work forwards too, from a rate you already charge to what it actually leaves you once overhead and tax are taken out. A billable-hours tool shows what share of your week you can actually invoice, and a timesheet adds up the hours you worked into what they are worth. For the employed hours many freelancers also work, another tool works out what the federal overtime rules add past forty in a week. Fixed-price work gets priced the same principled way, rather than guessed at. From there you can generate an invoice at the rate you settled on, work out the date it falls due, and if that date passes, work out what you can add: interest at the rate your contract sets, in the United States, or statutory interest and fixed compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act, in the United Kingdom.

Questions

Do I need to create an account?
No. Every tool here runs entirely in your browser, and none of them ask you to sign up.
Does my invoice data get uploaded anywhere?
No. Invoices are built and turned into a PDF inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so there is nothing for us to store or lose.
Are these tools free?
Yes. They are supported by advertising rather than subscriptions.
